This was a steal...

  • 2007 De Tarczal Gewürztraminer Trentino - Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Trentino (12/22/2008)
There's a bit of frizzante when this is poured. Gorgeous aromas of honey, whole pineapple chunks, sulfured apricots and generally dried tropical fruit. After more time in the air, I get a strong aroma of Fruit Loops cereal. Thick and oh so soft in the mouth showing more apricots and a very interesting lobster flavor which then turns to beautiful flowers and rocks. All this carries into the finish along with some nice spice. What remains on my palate even 4 minutes later is an intense white gummy bear flavor that is amazing. The more this is left open the more minerals show up on the finish. Wow, this really does match the billing. Beautifully balanced, and a solid QPR. (91 pts.)

explosive aromatics, a really pretty and reasonably restrained expression of Gewurztraminer

this is one of those offers i wish i bought more. fantastic aromatics! brought it to a tasting with friends ITB and they couldn't believe that it was from Italy (albeit way north). Great QPR

I loved this wine as well. We just finished our third and last bottle (tears) and I truly wish I had another 9. Wonderful nose, expressive palate, long finish and a price that was very, very fair. Not what I had expected from a Gewurz, but better for it.

I totally agree. I am looking forward to future releases from de Tarczal.

I loved both the Gewurtz and the Moscato Giallo. I also had the '05 Cab Franc which was fine but not to the same level of aromatic excitement.

Totally agree. Amazing aromatics, that transfer over to the flavors. Flowers and white fruits. Great stuff. Still great 4 days later. Only one bottle left, and it will disappear this spring. I honestly think that this is my favorite wine of any of the 30+ Garagiste offerings I have tried. Hope Jon can score some more.

I wish I had bought a dozen. The evergreen aromatics in this wine were unique and awesome. My loss.
