More US wines, please

Increasingly, I find myself saying "No" to Garagiste overseas offerings that are not truly special for me. The reason: The energy cost of shipping wine half way around the world.

Believe me, I am no zealot; I think of myself as a composting conservative. And wine is not a commodity like water (shipped from Fiji, New Zealand, etc.). Sometimes (yeasty Champagne), there is no substitute. But there might be a building audience that appreciates under-the-top US wines, perhaps made from nebbiolo, grenache, mourvedre, and so on. If, indeed, there are any.
